Arnold Lumber Company is a full-service lumberyard offering building materials, a full line of masonry supplies, cabinetry, and a Kitchen & Bath Design Center Showroom with locations in Bristol, Wakefield, Westerly, and the Headquarters based in West Kingston.

PURPOSE:

This position represents Arnold Lumber in the field by providing a professional approach to servicing customers with concerns, questions, and problems with products. The Field Service Technician inspects, repairs, and replaces defective improperly working products and records such findings through pictures and documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct Delivery of service solutions for customers to promote the value of Arnold Lumber. Dismantles and replaces windows and doors in a customer setting, respectful of the customer’s environment.
  • Performs repairs to windows/doors and other associated items as assigned by the department manager. Installs replacement parts and products on the job site as prescribed. Works independently or as part of a team, as necessary.
  • Presents a professional image while completing repairs, adjustments, and replacements in a timely manner.
  • Enforces warranty compliance. Communicates and disseminates warranty policy information.
  • Completes documentation accurately and promptly (ex, Job Assessments, Hours). Completes electronic paperwork of assigned tasks in an accurate manner with documentation and pictures.
  • Able to monitor and document product performance. Communicates with responsible service support personnel on issues or product performance observations and trends.
  • Maintains proper vehicle and equipment maintenance including Inventory management located in the vehicle or other facility.
  • Assists in product and service procedure training
  • Tactfully resolve difficult situations with customers (internal/external)

OTHER JOB DUTIES:

  • Adheres to all Arnold Lumber policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Travel involved in company vehicle - in (and very occasionally outside) of the primary territory.
  • Willingness to travel outside the primary market area to support service organizations, as needed
  • Very limited direction of others on job sites/field projects
  • All other duties – Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks

  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Resourceful with problem-solving skills
  • Good attitude, respectful, and courteous
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations with a positive approach
  • Ability to work within deadlines
  • Ability to effectively use MS Office Products and applicable specialized applications (ex. WebWindowCare)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Able to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, and perform work activities
  • Able to maneuver while on ladders/scaffolding or other lift devices
  • Ability to carry, lift/maneuver materials and products up to 70 lbs
  • Able to lift/maneuver items weighing more than 70 lbs. by enlisting other associates for assistance

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver’s License, with a clean driving record
  • Two or more years of window installation experience (preferably Anderson products), strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of products, service procedures, and construction methods
