Armstrong Utilities is Hiring a Director of Technology Near Butler, PA

The Director of Technology will be responsible for leading the technology team which is responsible for understanding the technology landscape and evaluating new technology for our Network as well as services for residential, commercial, and enterprise customers. This role will be involved in industry groups such as Cable Labs/SCTE and other MSO communities. Deep understanding of Armstrong’s strategic mission and will stay ahead of new and emerging technologies in all the technology areas focusing on 3–5-year vision and outlook. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. Advanced Engineering degree preferred. 15 years Telecommunications experience with a minimum of 10 years’ Engineering or operations experience. Ability to work on Armstrong diverse technology areas. Must be a servant leader and work well in a team environment - have the ability to positively engage team and other departments. Demonstrate flexibility in thinking and process in an effort to drive a continuous improvement environment. Strong understanding of Plant, Network, CPE and Service delivery and technologies. Strong communication skills -must have the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within multiple business units. Ability to present and propose new technologies and vision to the Senior leadership team. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships. Flexibility and ability to understand key stake holders needs and accept feedback. Responsibilities Lead team of Technology Directors/Principal Engineers, setting priorities that match the business needs Evaluate and stay ahead of trends in the industry Active participant in the industry active on committees and presenting at industry event Responsible for owning the technology portfolio and growing it. Technical leadership within the company. Work with Engineering leadership on moving solutions from evaluation, testing and deployment. Provide engineering guidance and support for facilities including new and augment of existing. Create RFP/RFIs and review proposals. Manage vendor relationships as necessary to achieve corporate and departmental goals. Evaluate and recommend vendor solutions for new and existing products. Work with marketing product management on developing new customer products for both residential and commercial customers. Evaluate ways to deploy network and service in a faster and more efficient way. Visit Armstrong’s systems and interact with local leadership and Field operations to understand challenges. Interact collaboratively to support other departments as necessary. Perform other related tasks as assigned. Armstrong is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
