Position Summary:

This position will have responsibility to estimate/bid Commercial Plumbing jobs and Residential Plumbing jobs as needed. This position will be required to site visit estimated jobs to report progress to Plumbing Operations Manager. This position may be asked to review plumbing jobs he/she has estimated with the Commercial and Residential Field Supervisors as well as the Plumbing Operations Manager. Plumbing Operations Manager will approve the scope of work, take offs and total estimates created by this position.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions/Job Duties:

• Solicit, initiate and maintain relationships with owners, design professionals, suppliers, subcontractors and others related commercial plumbing projects and residential as needed.
• Create plumbing quotes from blueprints and drawings that meet project requirements, specifications regarding materials, labor, subcontractors, equipment and schedule.
• Review scope of new accepted jobs with Field Supervisor(s)
• Create punch list and materials list
• Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and foreman on change orders and adjustments to quotes and notify Staff Accountant for billing
• Create a schedule of values for billing purposes
• Review each accepted estimate upon completion with Plumbing Operations Manager to guide future estimates
• Walk construction sites to assess, scope, job difficulty or challenges of pending jobs
• Be able to offer progress of each job on a monthly and as needed basis with Plumbing Operations Manager and Accountant for billing purposes if Field Supervisor is not available
• Assist Warehouse staff to facilitate special orders, materials etc.
• Ensure all layouts are completed based on plumbing schedule and signed off on by GC on site, noting all Add-On or Change Orders
• Be available for plumbers and Site Foreman/General Contractors to contact you easily for questions regarding layout and scope of job
• Return builder/customer calls in a timely manner
• Assist with closing out jobs including creating schematic and close-out documentation
• Other duties as needed as they relate to this scope of work; although rare, may be required to perform on site tasks and job review

Qualifications:

• Ability to work as a team

• Organized, including keeping organized job folders and project notes
• Knowledge of industry is required
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to set and manage timeline goals
• High level of pride in workmanship
• 5 years plumbing estimating experience
• 1 years field plumbing foreman experience is a plus
• Understanding of bidding prevailing wage jobs

Certain key business indicators that will measure the effectiveness of the Commercial Plumbing Estimator. These include the following:

• Meeting recommended margins upon completion -
• Degree to which unproductive labor or lost time is minimized directly related to design issues
• Understand the ability of available plumbing crews with regards to estimating labor hours necessary
• Number of problems that arise as a result of jobs not being installed according to original or revised layout and design
• Number of warranty calls, resulting in non-billable time from layout design
• Quality of estimator’s paper work and documentation of scope of work
• Meet deadlines with regards to estimate submissions
