JOB POSTING: Part-Time Physical Education Teacher (with the potential of becoming full-time)

JOB SUMMARY: Position duties consist of teaching Physical Education class K – 8th grades. The instructor will oversee the progress of all students, provide for their individual needs and coordinate activities to create a stimulating and caring classroom environment.

The successful candidate will be an educator who is highly skilled and experienced in a broad range of Physical Education and Health instruction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teaching Physical Education to 1st – 8th grades one time a week and Health Education 4th – 8th grades one time a week.
• Oversee the progress of all students in your groups, provide for their individual needs and coordinate activities to create a stimulating and caring classroom environment.
• Planning, preparing and delivering lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Instruct, monitor and evaluate students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, following the school student handbook.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary protocols of the school.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Effectively prepare and adapt the classroom for varied classroom activities.
• Assign and evaluate classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Maintain rapport and communication with parents, administration, and staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BA or BS in Physical Education, education, or related field
• PA Level 1 Teaching Certification (preferred)
• 1-year teaching experience preferred
