JOB DESCRIPTION:

The ARM Group LLC is hiring for the Cabinet Maker for our client who is a leading manufacturer for High End Furniture in Charlotte, NC.

#Preferred Woodwork/Furniture Background Experience

Skills Required

  • Prepare and set up machines, fixtures, tooling and materials to produce pieces. (Woodworking machines include band saws, table saws, planers, jointers, routers, shapers, sanders, drill press, Kreg pocket jig and more).
  • Knowledge and working application of a variety of materials, finishes, and processes.
  • Operate machines and use hand tools to perform cutting, jointing, planning, shaping, gluing, clamping, assembly, epoxy/filling and sanding tasks. (Materials include rough-sawn dimensional lumber, larger/thicker slabs, and plywood/veneer panels).
  • Coordinate and execute, layout and production of specified projects.
  • Keep an eye on shop supplies/materials and help identify those that need to be re-ordered before they are fully consumed and impact cost/productivity.
  • Responsible for tracking time and productivity amongst other crucial details of project flow.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Properly and precisely use measuring devices for accurate cuts (tape measures, levels, etc.).
  • Safely operate standard power tools and hand tools (saws, drills, routers, planers, jointers, sanders, etc.).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience studying the trade and/or working on projects.

Other Important Requirements

  • Ability to handle 8-10 hour days standing, lifting, bending.
  • Good eyesight (with corrective lenses is fine) and good hearing is needed.
  • Detail Oriented – pay attention to details to meet specifications and to remain safe.
  • Dexterity – Make precise cuts and assemblies with a variety of hand tools and power tools, so a steady hand and good hand-eye coordination is required.
  • Math Skills – Knowledge of basic math and computer skills are important. Understanding of basic geometry to visualize how the wood pieces will fit together to fabricate a three-dimensional object, such as a cabinet or piece of furniture.
  • Mechanical Skills – Ability to work with a variety of machines, tools, and materials to build cabinets and furniture.
  • Physical Stamina – Ability to endure long periods of standing and repetitious movements is crucial.
  • Physical Strength – Must be strong enough to lift bulky and heavy pieces of wood, such as large cabinets and plywood.
  • Keep the work area safe, clean and organized.

  • Ability to review and understand detailed CAD drawings
  • Enthusiastic, positive “can do” attitude is a must.
  • Eager to learn and grow professionally and personally.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, self-directed worker.
  • Ability to know (and willingness to ask) when help from others is needed.
  • Must have basic hand tools and electric tools as needed (drill/screw guns, PPE).
