Job Summary:
Arlo Chicago, a leading hotel in the hospitality industry, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This is a full-time management role that offers a competitive salary of $70000 per year, paid biweekly. As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for assisting the Controller in overseeing all financial and accounting operations of the hotel. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Controller in managing all financial and accounting functions of the hotel, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes
- Monitor all financial transactions and ensure proper recording and reconciliation
- Manage and maintain internal controls to safeguard hotel assets
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and financial projections for senior management
- Support external auditors during annual audits
- Provide leadership and supervision to the accounting team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in the hotel or hospitality industry
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus
- Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks and MS Excel
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
