ARK Behavioral Health is Hiring a Peer Support Specialist Near Van, OH

Our mission. Ark Behavioral Health is a network of Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Facilities that provide a variety of levels of care to those who are prepared to begin their journey toward recovery.

We are looking for a Full-time Peer Support Specialist at our Van Wert, Ohio location!

Job Summary The Peer Support Specialist will utilize expertise associated with addiction and recovery experience and become a resource to individuals and families. They will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to re-engage individuals in treatment services, and to provide Peer Recovery Support services in residential programs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintains professional standards of ethics and adheres to Code of Ethics, including client confidentiality, client's rights and client's grievance procedure.
  • Maintain required professional licensure/ certification.
  • Completes client charting and other required documentation in a timely, professional manner.
  • Participates in agency and treatment team meetings as needed.
  • Assist individuals to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery.
  • Assist individuals in identifying barriers (internal and external) to full participation in recommended treatment services.
  • Identify, develop and implement strategies to overcome these barriers and successfully re-engage individuals in treatment services.
  • Provide re-engagement support for individuals who have stopped complying with residential treatment services.
  • Facilitate the individual's reintroduction to services.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, observation & Written skills.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws
  • Knowledge of Drug-free Workplace Policies.
  • Knowledge of Addiction Issues, co-occurring disorders, and the 12-Step Recovery Program
  • Patient care charts and patient histories
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution
  • Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual and their family.
  • Emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose including First Aid and CPR
  • Experience working with addiction in a residential and/or intensive outpatient milieu

Experience:

  • 2 years of experience in drug and alcohol treatment preferred.
