Arizona is Hiring a Senior Programmer/Data Analyst - Cancer Center Near Tucson, AZ

  • Responsible for management and leadership of systems programming and data related efforts and activities for the Cancer Center, including supervising the senior data analyst.
  • Lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modeling and analysis techniques to optimize data reporting and analysis.
  • Develop automated/scheduled processes to utilize the University’s central information warehouse and business intelligence using SQL and other methods. Improve reporting and processes over time.
  • Defines, designs and builds dimensional database schemas.
  • Reviews object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better management and quicker access.
  • Define and capture metadata and rules associated with ETL processes.
  • Adapt ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, manipulate data to discover meaning and insight.
  • Performs analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, etc. to identify patterns in data.
  • Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics support that support key business decisions.
  • Design and build technical processes to address issues.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights that analyze key operations and metrics. Reports should be clear, convincing, informative, engaging, and tailored to the audience.
  • Develops reports to recommend strategies and plans.
  • Ensure accuracy of data and deliverables of reporting employees with comprehensive policies and processes.
  • Conducts data sheering to rid the system of old, unused or duplicate data.
  • Manage and optimize processes for data intake, validation, mining and engineering as well as modeling, visualization and communication deliverables.
  • Examine, interpret and report results of analytical initiatives to leadership.
  • Makes critical observations and provides data interpretation.
  • Oversee the data/report requests process: tracking requests submitted, prioritization, etc.
  • Develop and implement quality controls and departmental standards to ensure quality standards, organizational expectations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Anticipate future reports related to ongoing projects.
  • Communicate and present results of reports to stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to create, troubleshoot, and enhance the Cancer Center’s data loadings.
  • Knowledge of key IT business systems, reporting and analytics, general ledger management, and data warehousing.
  • Strong working knowledge of reporting tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in research and data analysis, drawing actionable insights from raw data and information.
  • Skilled in statistical and econometric modeling, performing quantitative analysis, and technological data mining and analysis techniques.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Creative and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
