Arizona is Hiring a Research Integrity and Training Specialist Near Tucson, AZ

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research Integrity Program: In collaboration with the RIO, coordinate and manage highly confidential research misconduct assessments, inquiries, and investigations arising from allegations of wrongdoing, data falsification, fabrication or plagiarism, in accordance with federal regulations and institutional policy. This includes sequestering data; organizing and cataloging evidence; performing forensic analysis of evidence; conducting interviews; managing and supporting faculty inquiry and investigation committee activities; communicating with respondents, complainants, witnesses, IT security, university leadership and the Office of General Counsel; and reporting to federal oversight agencies. (40%)
  • Responsible Conduct of Research Program: Proactively nurture a strong culture of research integrity at UA by overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and strategic growth of the RCR program. Organize, coordinate, design, promote and help to facilitate a semester-based series of in-person and virtual workshops covering essential topics in the responsible and ethical conduct of research. Develop new workshops and update existing training material to keep the program current and employ novel methods to communicate responsible and ethical research best practices to the research community. Work with and recruit faculty and staff subject matter experts to facilitate high quality and impactful trainings. Manage the tracking and verification of training hours utilizing the university's enterprise learning management system, EDGE Learning. Maintain and update the RCR program webpages. Certify that all trainees, fellows, and research personnel associated with relevant federal awards complete the mandatory RCR training and maintain proper documentation. Ensure university compliance with RCR training requirements from federal agencies. (40%)
  • Other Duties as Required: The Research Integrity and RCR Programs sit at a dynamic intersection between research, law, academics, compliance, policy, and administration. The RITS will work with the RIO and other research compliance and administrative units as needed to creatively and proactively nurture a vibrant culture of integrity, compliance, and ethical conduct of research at UA that is in alignment with university values and applicable federal regulations. This work may include, but is not limited to, developing and leading new initiatives, designing online compliance training modules, editing websites, drafting communications and internal procedures, developing presentation materials and doing outreach to campus stakeholders. (20%)

  • Able to operate with a high degree of professionalism and discretion and handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Must possess effective project planning and project management skills with ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to interact with process owners and faculty, students, staff, and administrators across the University at a variety of levels and positions.
  • Demonstrated excellence designing, developing, and facilitating participant-centered training in online, face-to-face, and blended environments.
  • Able to understand, communicate, and operationalize regulatory language and procedural guidance.
  • Capable of digesting, summarizing, analyzing complex and highly technical information.
  • Familiar with the academic research enterprise, including experimental design, proposal writing, data gathering, analysis, and publishing.
  • Demonstrated research skills using computer applications for data retrieval and analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; able to understand complex situations and make well-reasoned decisions in the absence of clear guidance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage, organize, and document large amounts and diverse types of data and information.
  • Highly motivated and able to work independently as well as contribute to team efforts.
  • Working knowledge of federal research misconduct regulations.
  • Ability to digest, summarize, and analyze technical scientific writing and data across diverse disciplines.
