Implement and teach interdisciplinary law: technology and Indigenous advocacy courses

  • Develop and instruct interdisciplinary law courses in Human Rights Law, Technology, Tribal Governance, and Indigenous Peoples' Digital Rights.
  • Develop and instruct specially designed courses that aim to improve student competencies in handling tribal domain name registrations and effectively navigating domain name dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Incorporate Indigenous law and policy education with technology tools to deepen students' understanding and practical skills in managing tribal digital and intellectual property rights.
  • Design community-engaged and technology-enhanced flipped classroom content that prioritizes learner-centeredness, inclusivity, accessibility, and scalability, tailored to integrate Indigenous digital rights and international legal frameworks.
  • Build strategies that are particularly focused on enhancing online and hybrid course formats to better serve the needs of IPLP’s partnered tribal communities and educational institutions.
  • Enhance student learning and leadership by actively fostering engagement through outreach, internships, and research opportunities.
  • Construct a flexible course framework that can adjust to new IPLP initiatives each semester or extend over a full academic year, tailored to meet the evolving needs of IPLP’s tribal community partners and specific project demands.

Web Developer Lead duties

  • Oversee the hosting partnership agreement between the IPLP and Campus Web Services.
  • Administer and launch new Indigenous-focused websites while updating and maintaining existing IPLP project sites.
  • Develop, maintain, and secure digital searchable databases for IPLP projects, ensuring they are updated with the latest security measures.
  • Explore methods to integrate Artificial Intelligence into IPLP’s digital databases to enhance and promote the Indigenous Peoples human rights advocacy.
  • Provide technical support to IPLP's diverse project teams, assisting with a range of activities including multimedia marketing, social media engagement, event management, registration form coordination, and newsletter distribution.
  • Coordinate with various Native American/Indigenous offices at the University to provide support in web development, social media, event promotion, and the creation of multimedia content for digital marketing purposes.
  • Craft news articles and stories for website content, effectively communicating updates on IPLP and University-wide Indigenous initiatives to a diverse audience.

Pascua Yaqui Tribe – University of Arizona Microcampus (PYT-UA) duties

  • Deliver classes, workshops, and seminars that focus on effective use of AI, Web Development, and digital literacy in human rights advocacy, emphasizing their applications in Tribal Governance.
  • Provide technical support to implement advanced technologies for asynchronous classes, ensuring tribal users can from diverse backgrounds can effectively engage with the course materials.
  • Facilitate various courses, assisting both instructors and students in utilizing technology smoothly and efficiently.
  • Monitor all deployed technologies continuously and troubleshoot any issues to maintain seamless class operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Department of Education to assess the tribe’s educational needs and develop detailed plans for future semester courses.
  • Design and manage online applications for students enrolling in upcoming courses, streamlining the registration process and enhancing accessibility.

IPLP Program Support

  • Assist in developing and implementing advanced technologies and strategic vision for the IPLP program.
  • Collaborate with IPLP staff to enhance the use of technology throughout the program, including in staff training, virtual classroom environments, and interactions with tribal community partners.
  • Assist in developing and implementing research technologies for various IPLP initiative projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Expert in Indigenous Peoples law and policy, human rights practices and working with Native American populations.
  • Expert Web Administrator in developing Drupal websites for the university.
  • Broad knowledge in collaborative technology tools used in indigenous-centered design and research.
  • Expert in qualitative data collection, analysis, and synthesis, with specialized knowledge in integrating these elements into websites.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ChartJS.
  • Skill in teaching in a higher education setting, and a deep commitment to online learning, enhancing learner agency, and learner-centered approaches in legal education.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and fast-paced, rapidly evolving environments.
  • Skill in strategic planning principles and practices, and demonstrated change, growth, and innovation management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals of varying technical and human rights expertise.
