PT - DOTA Coordinator

SALARY:
$ 32.00 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Seven years of experience with an Arizona law enforcement agency
  • Three years in a supervisory or management position
Preferred:
  • Associate or Baccalaureate Degree
  • Subject matter expert in Detention Officer Training
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
  • Experience working in a county jail or correctional facility
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
Classification:
  • Non-exempt
Position Type & Work Schedule:
  • Part Time, 12 months
  • 19 hours per week (Hours will vary)
  • May include some Fridays, evenings, and weekends
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows
  • Ability to organize, be self-directed, work independently, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail while contributing to team environment
  • Ability to effectively and professionally interact and communicate with a diverse internal and external community
  • Ability to operate media equipment such as projectors and personal computers
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of students, faculty, and staff for a diverse and multi-cultural background
  • Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
Work Environment:
  • Indoors and Outdoors; office, classroom, and outdoors
  • Hot and/or cold temperatures
Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • May lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy (at least 25 pounds) amounts of weight
  • Occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist
  • Ability to work in extreme weather
Travel:
  • May be required to travel to other locations using various modes of private, commercial, or fleet transportation
  • Travel required at various times for the program’s sustainability

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Develops, directs, and administers all DOTA training programs in La Paz County and ensures the program adheres to all applicable regulating agencies and professional standards.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
Serves Students. Teaches DOTA courses as required.

Creates and supervises the implementation of all DOTA class schedules and instructors.

Coordinates regular reviews of programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the college mission and values, as well as community/workforce needs. Identifies student learning outcomes: develop processes and tools for assessment and incorporate results to modify instructional strategies and materials. Assist in developing and submitting student learning outcome assessment material as required.

Design, develop, and update program curriculum.

Compiles and submits regulatory reports as required or requested.

Promotes the DOTA program through various partnerships.

Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
