SALARY:

$96,795 - 102,603 per year, depending on experience. Plus, excellent fringe benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Master's degree in nursing or higher, and minimum (3) three years' work experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and a minimum of (1) one academic year full-time experience teaching in or administering a nursing education program leading to licensure.

Holds a current Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to relate well to diversified student and instructional staff

Demonstrated administrative experience at the community college level; experience in providing leadership for the development and implementation of a comprehensive learning environment

Demonstrated administrative and budget experience

Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college

Preferred:

Demonstrated ability to use computer information systems for data collection, reporting, and analysis

Demonstrated ability with curricula and course schedule development experience

Position Type & Work Schedule:

The Director of Nursing position operates on an 11-month basis, with a unique structure comprising 9 months of face-to-face interaction and 2 months of virtual engagement. During the 9-month face-to-face period, the Director will be actively present on campus, immersing themselves in the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department. They will provide hands-on leadership, and conduct regular meetings, workshops, and training sessions, ensuring faculty development and maintaining instructional excellence. They will oversee clinical placements, curriculum updates, and student progress, fostering a supportive environment for faculty and staff. Transitioning to the 2-month virtual period, the Director seamlessly shifts operations online, leveraging technology for communication and collaboration. Despite the virtual setting, they remain accessible and responsive, conducting virtual meetings, training sessions, and consultations to facilitate ongoing professional development and support for faculty and staff. This innovative approach ensures continuity of operations and upholds the established standards of excellence, maintaining a cohesive and supportive environment throughout the academic year.

May include some Fridays, evenings, and weekends.

Completion of EDU-250- The Community College, or college-designated alternative course/training, within one (1) year of employment or submission of transcripts indicating successful completion of a similar course with another college.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Overall responsibility for the district-wide leadership and administration of all aspects of the Nursing Department including nursing, and related courses. The incumbent works in tandem with Deans, directors, faculty, and advisory committees. Has responsibility for district-wide instructional service delivery. Oversees the recruitment, development, and retention of full-time and associate faculty. Oversees full-time, associate, and clinical faculty. Supervises administrative and supportive staff. Supports the Executive Director and Dean of Career and Technical Education with strategic planning, enrollment management, and issues pertaining to the delivery of instruction within Career and Technical Education. 11-month Professional Administrative (PA) Position.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Serves Students. Organize and administer day-to-day activities of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited Associate Degree Nursing Program. Facilitate and coordinate activities related to academic policies, personnel policies, curriculum, resources, facilities, services, and program evaluation. Prepare and administer the department budget(s).

Work with the Executive Director and Dean of Career and Technical Education, directors, faculty, advisory committees, and other staff to develop, implement, assess, and evaluate department curriculum to ensure program effectiveness, and student success, and meet the Arizona State Board of Nursing (AZBN) and ACEN requirements. Coordinate and lead student learning outcomes assessment and course competency expectations for the specified department/discipline in partnership with Faculty, Executive Director and Dean of Career and Technical Education, and appropriate College personnel. Communicate recommendations to the Executive Director and Dean of Career and Technical Education for course modifications based on the feedback, input, and analyses of student learning outcomes assessments.

Organize and administer day-to-day nursing programs and other areas assigned to the department.

Schedule classes, labs, and clinical experience in the nursing area.

Recruit, recommend, supervise, professionally develop, and evaluate assigned full-time and associate faculty. Administer probationary and continuing full-time and associate faculty appraisals in compliance with ACEN, state nursing regulations, and AWC policy. Faculty teaching ability, nursing knowledge, and skills will be evaluated at least every two years by the Director of Nursing with probationary and associate faculty appraised more frequently per College procedures.

Maintain, enforce, and evaluate written policies and procedures that require all students, faculty, and preceptors who participate in clinical practice settings to be physically and mentally able to provide safe client care (Pursuant to A.RS. & R4-19-203. C. 6.).

Develop and maintain communication with institutions that provide clinical facilities.

Plan, coordinate, and implement accreditation and program approval activities, including on-site reviews, with faculty and appropriate college departments.

Participate in student recruitment and advisement. Conduct professional/administrative staff appraisals for the academic department in compliance with AWC policy. As applicable, teach per AZBN R4-19-203 D. Develop and maintain partnerships with educational and industry constituencies.

Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
