Arizona State University’s Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioinformatics Systems Manager to join our cutting-edge research team focused on genomic epidemiology and virus research. This position requires a unique combination of bioinformatics pipeline development, server and database management, and web visualization skills. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and analyzing genomic data to advance our understanding of virus genetics, transmission, and evolution in environmental and epidemiological contexts.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible Research Professional (assistant and associate ranks considered) position. The appointment is non-tenure track and will be made at the rank of Assistant Research Professional or Associate Research Professional, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments. This appointment is for one fiscal year and subsequent years are contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the school.
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Research Professional:
Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field AND 3 years of Research Experience in the following:
Experience in server and database management, preferably in a research or academic setting
Demonstrated strong proficiency in bioinformatics pipeline development for genomic data analysis.
Experience in developing web visualization tools.
Demonstrated familiarity with genomic epidemiology and virus research.
Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Associate Research Professional:
Bachelors degree in bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field AND 5 years of Research Experience in the following:
Experience in server and database management, preferably in a research or academic setting
Demonstrated strong proficiency in bioinformatics pipeline development for genomic data analysis.
Experience in developing web visualization tools.
Demonstrated familiarity with genomic epidemiology and virus research.
Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desired Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated education, experience in one or more of the below:
Master’s degree or PhD in a related field.
Demonstrated Experience with cloud computing environments (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud). (Dependent on Rank)
Demonstrated Publication record in bioinformatics or genomic epidemiology. (Dependent on Rank)
