We are searching for someone who preferably has a nursing, clinical or medical background. You will conduct surveys, investigate and inspect skilled nursing facilities, and related health care facilities to enforce Federal, State and local licensing and certification requirements relating to medical care.
Execute tasks corresponding to the activities within the Division of Public Health Licensing Services, Bureau of Long Term Care Facilities Licensing.

What You'll Do:

As a Compliance Officer, you will assist with or determine the issuing of licenses to licensed facilities and providers, maintaining current licenses by ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.

You will be accountable for conducting initial and annual recertification inspections of health care institutions regulated by the Department to determine compliance with all applicable regulations.

You'll also review of quality systems by tracking documents, corrective actions, and other quality data. Additionally, you'll conduct investigations of the operation of a licensed facility or provider upon receiving a complaint or of an unlicensed facility.

Execute services that need regulation. Correspond with the regulated community or with regulatory bodies, responds to technical questions from licensees, develops standards, participates in rulemaking, and conducts inspections.

Complete, assist or review detailed investigative or inspection reports, statements of deficiencies, and correspondence regarding changes in the status of a licensee’s license, or other types of legal orders.

Compensation and Career Path: The salary for this position is $57,750 per year, and salaries are non-negotiable. The Compliance Officer I position is included in the Department's Compliance Officer Series, which provides a career path and opportunities for advancement if certain additional education, experience, duties, and responsibilities are met. Additionally, Compliance Officer positions are eligible for an increased salary as follows:

- $1,000 for a bachelor's degree OR $2,500 for a master's degree (or higher)

- *$4,000 for a Registered Nurse (RN) (or Physician Assistant (PA) or Doctor of Medicine (MD)) in addition to any of the degrees above with a cap at $5,500 total (*only applies to Compliance Officers in the Bureau of Long Term Care Facilities Licensing and the Bureau of Medical Facilities Licensing)

**** This position is on site at our Long Term Care Facilities Office****

The ideal candidate will have:
- Associate’s degree, with experience working in a licensed or regulated setting, or experience working for a regulatory agency.
- Preference will be given to candidates who possess a professional license to practice in the State of Arizona or proof of eligibility for reciprocity of an out-of-state license, i.e., Registered Nurse, Social Worker, Dietitian, Counselor, etc.

Driving is required for State Business.
- Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
- Must possess a valid level one fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to A.R.S.41-1758.07 or must apply for a level one fingerprint clearance card within seven working days after beginning employment. You will be required to pay an $8.25 fee for fingerprint screening. If hired, you will be able to request reimbursement of the $8.25.
