AristaCare At Manchester is Hiring a Bus Aide (FT) Near Manchester, NJ

Manchester Pediatric Medical Day Care is looking for three (3) full time bus aides!

The bus aide will be working split shifts 6:30am-9:30am and 1:30pm-4:30pm

The primary purpose of the bus aide is to assist with providing safe transportation services for the participants of Manchester Pediatric Medical Daycare. The bus aide’s main responsibilities are assisting the transportation driver in meeting the needs of the participants during transportation to and from the facility. This may include securing children in appropriate safety restraints (car seats, booster seats, vehicle seat belts, and wheelchair or transport chair), securing their belongings during transportation and ensuring participant safety during transportation. You will also maintain a professional demeanor while adhering to our established care and activity procedures as defined in the Mission and Vision, and as directed by your supervisors. The bus aide will comply with all state, local and company policies, procedures and laws.

Job Functions:

  • Project a professional image and attitude when interacting with clients, the public and fellow employees.
  • Provide assistance for children during pickup and drop-off in and out of the vehicle as needed.
  • Wear a seat belt at all times when the vehicle is in motion. Ensure compliance of seatbelt laws of passengers.
  • Ensure wheelchairs and child restraints are properly secured in the vehicle.
  • Immediately advise the Administrator or designee of any medical or non-medical emergencies or incidents involving passengers. Follow-up with Administrator after the emergency/incident has been managed.
  • Be familiar with safe lifting and moving techniques. Be fit for performance of job duties including sitting, standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling up to 40 pounds.
  • Be familiar with proper use of all vehicle safety equipment.
  • Be responsible for all equipment and inspect and report any issues with equipment.
  • Be familiar with all facility forms related to transportation. Ensure forms are completed accurately.
  • Comply with uniform requirements and personal appearance policies.
  • Have knowledge of communication devices including cell phones which will enable communication with families, staff and facility.
  • Be familiar and comply with the rules of the facility especially no smoking on company premises or in company vehicles.
  • Assume responsibility for cleanliness of the vehicle daily. Perform pre and post trip inspections.
  • Navigate effectively to various destinations utilizing GPS as needed.
  • Inspect and report any damage or malfunction to the vehicle. Check all fluid levels as needed.
  • Maintain order on the vehicle.
  • Ensure that minors are left only with approved guardians.
  • Perform a visual double-check of the entire vehicle to ensure that no child is left on the vehicle.
  • It is the expectation that the bus aide will maintain the confidentiality of all children’s information. All children will be treated fairly, with dignity, kindness and respect. Present a positive professional image of the facility to families and community by acting in a professional manner. Be honest open and direct to fellow workers while expressing your views constructively. Report all grievances and complaints made by parents and guardians to Administration.

Working Conditions:

  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves while working through out the facility or the possible evacuation of children. Must be able to lift/push/pull 40 pounds.
  • Will be subject to frequent interruptions, by hostile and emotionally upset children, family members, personnel and visitors.
  • Will be involved with children, personnel, visitors, government agencies.
  • Is subject to odors, may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, including the potential exposure to AIDS and hepatitis B viruses.

Requirements:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have AHA CPR/AED
  • Pediatric experience is preferred, if no experience you will be responsible for completing education regarding pediatric growth and development and information on children with special needs
