Job Summary:
Under general supervision of the Director of Nursing, coordinates bed management and staff mix in the hospital to assure that effective nursing services are provided, and quality standards are met. Supports the staff hospital operations. Manages, develops and improves the flow of The Hospital to ensure a positive safe environment. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of patient care related to the cardiac and medical surgical environment. Provides direct and indirect patient care to neonate through geriatric patient age-groups. Provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical/telemetry, cardiac services, ER, surgical services, and ICU when applicable. Assists with the clinical processes to ensure data, statistics, and patient financial and clinical information is correct and appropriate for the patient. Evaluates her/his own performance based on professional practice standards, relevant studies and regulations, and organizational criteria identifying areas of strength, as well as areas for professional/practice development.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:
3 (three) years of RN experience
1(one) year in ICU, ER, or Telemetry preferred
Previous Charge Nurse or Supervisor experience required.
License and Certifications:
Registered Nurse License in the state of Texas or compact equivalent.
BLS. ACLS required.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and evaluate nursing staff.
  • Provide training and development for nursing staff.
  • Set and monitor goals and objectives for department.
  • Manage budgets and resources.
  • Act as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and other departments.
  • Perform daily rounds and coordinate with nursing staff on admits and discharges.
  • Work closely with OR Director on supplies and specialty items needed per patient.
  • Must be willing to step in and work as floor nurse if needed.
