Aries Clean Technologies is Hiring an Operations Supervisor Near Linden, NJ

Operations Supervisor

Aries Clean Technologies is a state-of-the-art bio-solids gasification plant located in Linden, N.J. The Operations Supervisor is a day shift position responsible for providing strong leadership and supervision in the start-up, shutdown, and operation of the bio-solids gasification plant and plant equipment. This position provides direction, technical expertise and supervision to station operations associates and support teams. The Operations Supervisor will report to the Plant Superintendent.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise operation associates to effectively lead the plant operations staff.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, environmentally compliant, and economic plant operation.
  • Ensure procedural adherence of all operators and personnel regarding operating equipment and plant processes.
  • Coordinate the daily operation of the gasification plant with the plant’s operating plan.
  • Communicate with internal, external clients and government agencies as required.
  • Establish high standards and provide leadership and motivation by training, appraising, coaching, counseling, rewarding and disciplining associates.
  • Monitor Operator performance, associated with plant reliability and plant efficiency.
  • Implement strategies to improve operator and plant efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain compliance with operating procedures and policies.
  • Act as authority on site in absence of Plant Superintendent and Plant Manager and as Incident Commander during upset conditions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive implementation of lessons learned.
  • Facilitate cooperation, communication, teamwork, and camaraderie.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide consistent and constructive feedback.
  • Address any performance or behavior issues promptly.
  • Focus on training and developing operators in day-to-day job functions and general operations principles.
  • Collaborate with other departments (maintenance, logistics, quality control) to achieve overall plant goals.
  • Prepare employees for greater responsibilities and support plant-wide succession planning.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Superintendent to manage production schedules and resource allocation.
  • Seek out opportunities for staff optimization to improve uptime and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum of 5 years (preferred 7-10 years) of proven plant operations experience in a plant operation at a gasification plant, chemical plant, refinery, process plant or power plant in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with a safety-first culture with proven experience with the LOTO process.
  • Ability to work night shift during emergency conditions or to cover man-power shortages of shift.
  • Computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of federal, state, municipal and local permit limitations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Able to foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity and inclusion.
  • A successful candidate must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Exposure to heat, cold, and humidity as position requires both indoor and outdoor functions in a 24/7 operation.
  • Rotating shift work as needed.
  • Able to work from a ladder or other elevated surface.
  • Required to use a respirator, safety harness, and other personal protective equipment.
  • Exposure to heavy industrial equipment.
  • Lifting, bending, climbing, standing, walking
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Able to lift and carry 50lb.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Operating experience with dryers, thermal oxidizers, and gasification.
  • Technical certification or training in operations and familiarity.
