Position Summary
We are looking for a Research Analyst who demonstrates deep interest, knowledge and experience in analyzing the global utility and/or commodity industries. You will be fully integrated into the investment process and responsible for identifying and analyzing equity securities that align with investment goals. This role benefits from working alongside Senior Research Analysts and Portfolio Managers who will support you. Experience in stock analysis is preferred but not required.
A history of strong academic and professional performance, natural inquisitiveness, willingness to engage in robust debate and with demonstrated ability to contribute to a team decision making environment are important characteristics.
The right candidate is looking to conduct deep and differentiated fundamental research alongside a small, high-performing team of experienced and talented investment professionals using a well-established value investment process with a long- term investment horizon.
The position will report to the Chief Investment Officer of Global and Emerging Markets and is based in our midtown Manhattan offices.
Some travel is required.
Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of applicable work experience as a business, research, financial or equity analyst or consultant on the utility and/or commodity industries. Experience in equity research is preferred but not required.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills to articulate an investment thesis and ability to interact with senior management of companies in coverage area

  • Strong financial modeling skills are a minimum requirement.

  • Detail orientation and the ability to consume, digest and synthesize a large amount of information from a variety of sources and convert them into proprietary, actionable insights in a timely fashion, is a prerequisite to succeed in this position.

  • We highly value the ability to identify factors such as competitive advantage, strategic inflection points or disruptive developments as well as the ability to synthesize and articulate these fundamental characteristics both qualitatively in a thesis write-up and quantitatively in a financial/valuation model.
Education
  • Bachelor or Master's degree.
  • MBA and/or CFA a plus
Computer Skills Needed to Perform this Job
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Base Salary $130,000 - $150,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
Compliance:
