What will you be doing?

Argus is seeking a motivated early/mid-career journalist to help run its US chemicals editorialteam while also advancing its market-leading coverage. The role will report to the Chemicals Editor, while working closely with the global chemicals editorial team, business development and commercial teams.

Job duties:

• Assist the editor in day-to-day management of Houston-based team covering the petrochemical markets.
• Establish strong knowledge of US chemical commodity markets and provide daily/weekly market coverage across one or more products.
• Drive news coverage for the team through original reporting and assigning stories to colleagues.
• Ensure quality and relevance of weekly and daily reports.
• Develop new areas of market coverage.
• Provide cross-coverage support across all US markets.

What we’re looking for in you:

• The legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, economics, business, history or relevant field.
• Demonstrated reporting, writing and goal-oriented collaboration skills, with strong diplomatic, analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Experience covering physical commodity markets, with a strong preference for experience in the petrochemicals space.
• A commitment to the highest level of accuracy and completing all writing within established deadlines.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite with particular experience in Excel.
• A preference for candidates that speak Spanish or Portuguese.
