About the Opportunity

The Principal Financial Analyst – Sales is responsible for analyzing sales data showing trends, views, and projections. The role develops different reporting and data views of sales information in order for management to make informed decisions and for sales team members to have prioritized action items for focused sales efforts. The role proactively watches over sales data to identify opportunities and issues to be addressed by sales or other key leaders in the organization.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Partners with the executives, sales managers, sales reps, sales operations, and finance to determine business needs and analyses to be performed that will drive sales and improve company profitability.
  • Works closely with sales managers, reps, and operations in planning and budgeting work; participates in and drives the budgeting process as it relates to sales.
  • Creates and develops DOMO views, dashboards, and reports that focus on sales and sales operations that will drive strategy and management decisions.
  • Determines and recommends different strategies to drive sales success and growth.
  • Works closely with the Information Systems department to ensure the appropriate data is accurate and able to be accessed and queried on easily and efficiently.
  • Prepares sales and cost projections in a variety of ways (e.g. regionally, salesperson focused, geographically, by product line/business unit etc.).
  • Assists with and determines useful KPIs and metrics to gauge sales effectiveness.
  • Manages cross-functional projects as it relates to sales initiatives, changes, and/or analyses.
  • Manages incoming requests for financial information related to sales.
  • Prepares reports of findings and recommendations to management.
  • Performs ad hoc analyses of business situations, systems, issues and problems, and financial impact/profitability.
  • Develops financial modeling through benchmarking and analysis.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial data and creates reports on financial status based on the analysis results.
  • Communicates clearly both in written and verbal form to a variety of constituents.
  • Prepares and distributes monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Compares anticipated and actual results and identifies areas of improvement.
  • Reviews accounting transactions for data accuracy as needed.
  • Operates in a dynamic environment with competing priorities, while maintaining attention to detail with little supervision
  • Maintains confidentiality of financial information and investment decisions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What does it take to be successful?

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics.
  • 10 years of experience in data analytics.
  • Ability to present financial data using detailed reports and charts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Access, and VBA a plus.
  • Demonstrable critical thinking skills.
  • Expertise in MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and using advanced formulas) and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of financial analytic software programs (e.g. Domo, Tableau, or Hyperion).
  • Working knowledge of and implementation experience with enterprise performance management software programs a plus.
  • Experience with systems integrations.
  • Familiar with financial analytics databases.
  • Basic understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP).
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management software (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Working knowledge of incentive compensation models and software (e.g. Xactly)
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical colleagues and all levels of management.
  • Confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
