Job Summary :
The Corporate Controller leads a staff of approximately five individuals and is primarily responsible for maintaining an accurate and timely financial close. Specific areas of responsibility include general accounting for both domestic and international entities, year-end audit, international statutory reporting, accounts payable, payroll, cash application, and other general accounting functions. This position works closely with the Financial Planning and Analysis group as well as other operating managers throughout the company.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead and coordination the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
- Maintain the company's chart of accounts and manage assigned processes.
- Prepare some of the more complex or critical month-end journal entries.
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed in a timely manner and review them for accuracy and completeness.
- Lead the annual audit process and manage other audit related requirements related to acquisitions.
- Ensures transparency of financial results through regular reviews of activity posted to the general ledger.
- Provide a key leadership role to Senior and Staff accountants and transaction-processing employees by encouraging an attitude of continuous improvement in day-to-day activities.
- Work with foreign country finance resources to produce and review subsidiary financial statements that comply with U.S. GAAP and/or local statutory requirements as applicable.
- Supervise activities of staff and senior staff accountants to ensure that accounting functions are performed accurately and on a timely basis.
- Coordinate and promote training and development for the accounting staff.
- Delegate work appropriately in order to ensure deadlines are met.
- Analyze and communicate financial performance and provide succinct but comprehensive analysis of financial performance in comparison to budget, prior year and forecasts.
- Performs financial analysis as requested by key business leaders and senior finance leaders.
- Makes regular suggestions for improvements to accounting processes in order to improve efficiency.
- Works to standardize financial processes across divisions when appropriate.
- Ability to travel up to 15%
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- CPA preferred
- Seven years' experience as a controller in a global organization.
