About the position

Responsible for the operation of all equipment necessary for the installation of electrical and communications civil infrastructure on assigned projects, in alignment with all specifications, appropriate codes and all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. This position takes direction from the superintendent and other project team members with the goal of providing high quality work in a safe and timely manner.

Day in the life

  1. Understands detailed requirements of equipment installations by reviewing and interpreting diagrams, plans, specification and manuals.
  2. Accurately and safely operates civil machinery including Mini Excavator, Skidsteer, Digger Derrick, Cable Plow.
  3. Reports vehicle and equipment maintenance requirements as instructed, and repairs damaged and deficient equipment as directed.
  4. Documents deficiencies in equipment and safety practices as appropriate. Ensures one call tickets are current as required.
  5. Performs job site analyses (JSA) as requested and completed required paperwork.
  6. Monitors work quality and productivity as required.
  7. Ensures job sites are safe for employee and pedestrians.
  8. Creates and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, project managers, office and field staff and others that reflect and support the Company's core values and meet or exceed the customer's expectations. Assists with problem-solving and seeks assistance as required to resolve issues.
  9. Stays informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques and practices.
  10. Practices LEAN concepts and methodologies, and influences co-workers to do the same.
  11. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies relevant to the industry.
  12. Supports the mission, vision and values of the Company and works creatively to best support the Company's long-term goals. Champions and models the Company culture at all times.
  13. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
  14. Follows all guidelines, policies and procedures established by the Company.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 1-3 years of industry experience with machine and equipment operation and repair, maintenance and troubleshooting in the field setting.
  3. Knowledge and experience with construction and general industry safety standards and procedures.
  4. Knowledge of building construction equipment, materials and systems.
  5. Strong technical aptitude and skills to read, interpret and understand construction plans, drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  6. Strong process orientation.
  7. Demonstrated enthusiasm for expanding knowledge and skills to meet the needs of a dynamic technology office while directly contributing to the success of others.
  8. Strong team player, with effective collaboration, organizational and relationship-building skills. Willingly accepts feedback for continuous improvement.
  9. Strong critical thinking skills and detail orientation.
  10. Effective independent problem solving, time management and prioritization skills.
  11. Strong listening, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  12. Demonstrated high level of integrity and dependability.
  13. Ability to independently and effectively perform job duties and manage workflow, with minimal oversight, in a fast-paced environment with multiple and sometimes changing priorities.
  14. Holds a valid driver's license.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Holds a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or is willing to attain one.
  2. OSHA 10 Certification.
