Payroll Specialist – Decatur, IL
This is a full time, non-exempt position.
Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in ADM’s Corporate Payroll team. In this fast paced, customer service driven environment, the Payroll Specialist will interact with a diverse workforce including colleagues and management with top level visibility. The individual in this role will gain valuable knowledge, skills and experience in an area of Payroll that interacts daily with colleagues and management from all levels of the organization. Excellent customer service is a must for this role as you direct and advise on personnel decisions of colleagues professional lives.
 
Job Responsibilities:

• Accurately process US and Canadian exempt payroll, meeting semi-monthly deadlines
• Completion and accurate balance on Canadian phantom payroll each month
• Successful and timely completion of the FUTA reconciliation every quarter end
• Complete with accuracy and precision Form 941 for all ADM subsidiaries to the IRS
• Ensure confidential data is compliant and secure
• Complete balancing and ensure reports are accurate for W2 and T4 processing
• Consistently review employee status and update as needed
• Engage and coordinate with management to ensure employees are paid correctly
• Solve relatively complex problems related to compensation
• Update process documentation, manuals, and SOP’s as needed
• Provide guidance and support to ADM employees timely, accurately and professionally
• Recommend and implement process improvements and system enhancements
• Engage in cross-training and serve as back-up to US and Canadian non-exempt payrolls
• Collaborate with management and other departments across the organization for top notch customer service

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of three years of general office/accounting experience; payroll experience preferred
• Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
• Intermediate understanding of accounting/mathematical procedures is required
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Strong strategic thinking and a firm attention to detail are a must
• Excellent communication skills in writing and speaking forms
• Knowledge of ADM business units/structure preferred
• Superior attention to detail with the ability to locate discrepancies
• Motivation to be innovative with a continuous improvement mindset
• Exceptional customer service, organization and time management skills
• Special projects may be given to help support management metrics
• Ability to set goals, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
• Comfortable making quick/calculated decisions
• Knowledge of IBM (CICS & IMS) and MDM systems
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Must be able to hear and speak clearly; read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing in order to effectively communicate in person or by phone
• Physical requirements include standing, filing, bending, sitting for extended periods of time and working on the telephone
