Summary
The Director of the De La Salle Academic Support Program is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of academic support services within a school, including the oversight of four academic interventionists, managing the delivery of services to children with qualifying needs, maintaining compliance with standards, and supporting the academic success of students. The director coordinates with school administration and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the Academic Accommodation Plan. The Director of the De La Salle Academic Support Program is also tasked with providing direct support to students, collaborating on program development, and conducting professional development for all teachers. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills to effectively support students, engage with parents, and guide teachers in accommodating diverse learning needs. The Director of the De La Salle Academic Support Program ultimately aims to foster an inclusive educational environment where all students can thrive and achieve their full potential.
The Director of the De La Salle Academic Support Program is key to ensuring that the educational environment is supportive and effective for students with qualifying needs, promoting inclusivity and personalized learning approaches. The Director of the De La Salle Academic Support Program collaboratively leads the effort to maintain high standards of education and care, ensuring all students achieve their full potential.
Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
Special Education Responsibilities
  • Oversee Special Education Processes:
  • Collaborate with the Office of Catholic Education (OCE) to manage all aspects of the special education process.
  • Coordinate the delivery of services to children with qualifying needs.
  • Provide daily support for students with Academic Accommodation Plans or 504 Plans through one-on-one and small group sessions.
  • Communication and Documentation
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and educational plans.
  • Review educational histories of incoming students with prior IEPs or evaluations and prepare necessary documents.
  • Ensure all registered students' documents are accurately filed and shared with appropriate teachers.
  • Maintain organized documentation of the special education process, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Create, track, and organize all academic modification documentation.
  • Meetings and Compliance
  • Attend all evaluation meetings involving parents, administrators, and the guidance team.
  • Stay informed about updates in Special Education laws, programs, and available student resources.
Academic Support Responsibilities
  • Instructional Support
  • Assist teachers in providing differentiated instruction tailored to students with academic modification plans and other academic needs
  • Plan, implement, and deliver professional development sessions focusing on strategies and resources for inclusive teaching.
  • Collaboration and Oversight
  • Collaborate with the school administration, teachers, and guidance department on all aspects of programming for students with qualifying needs, including pre-referral intervention and transitions.
  • Oversee the work of the Title-1 Academic Support Team and implement the mission and vision to boost student academic success through effective instruction in the extension classes.
  • Monitoring and Development
  • Conduct regular department meetings to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Perform classroom observations and check-ins to assess and enhance instructional practices.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Master’s degree in special education or education-related field,
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience, with a focus on special education
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work productively and positively with staff, parents, and community.
  • Strong motivational skills.
  • Ability to promote an environment that fosters high expectations for students, staff, and self.
  • Strong and highly efficient critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading a group of people to results.
  • Successful participation in staff and curriculum development activities.
