ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Catholic Housing and Community Services
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES : Prepare a pleasing, nutritious meal for approximately 38 elderly residents. Clean up kitchen, steam table, dishes, all pots and pans and utensils. Supervise volunteer residents who clean and reset dining room. Willingness to substitute when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
HOURS : Monday and Tuesday 7:30am to 3:30pm
SUPERVISED BY: Assistant Program Director
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The part time cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a varied, pleasing, nutritious meal for approximately 38 elderly residents. The cook prepares and cooks the food, then serves the food. She or he cleans up the serving area and kitchen including stove, oven, floor, steam table, dishes, all pots and pans and utensils. Menus are planned but input is welcome. The cook monitors volunteers who clean and reset the dining room.
Daily
  • Prepare and serves meals according to menu.
  • Take food temps before every meal
  • Steam table cleaned
  • Wash dishes and utensils after meals; clean dish room
  • Clean pots and pans
  • Sweep and mop kitchen, dish room floors
  • Polish stainless steel
Cleaning:
  • Floors - sweep and mop kitchen, dish room, steam table area
  • Counter tops, table tops
  • Dish room and dining area
  • Take and record refrigerator temps before morning shift
  • Stainless steel
  • Empty coffee pot and refill for the next day
  • Empty trash
  • Lock up kitchen
  • Clean and refill steam table
  • Laundry - clean out lint too
  • Clean Cabinets-inside and out
  • Clean pitchers and food containers
  • Clean refrigerators and freezer, defrost monthly
  • Clean drawers in kitchen, food storage rooms, closets
  • Help unload and put away food order
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION
  • High School degree
  • Safe Serve certification preferred but not required.
