Archdiocese of Detroit is Hiring a First Grade Teacher Near Dearborn, MI

St. Anselm is looking for an innovative, energetic, and driven teacher who has experience teaching 1st grade or closely related lower elementary and possesses great social-ability and timeliness in duties and responsibilities. This candidate will be dedicated to their craft, the love for teaching!
Qualifications/Requirements:
All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. All teachers who are catechist, (teachers of religion), must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools.
  1. Possess love for children and the desire for their success and growth
  2. Familiarity with centers, running records and portfolios
  3. Proper certification by the Michigan Department of Education
  4. Certified to teach lower elementary all subjects (grades K-5)
  5. Catechist certified preferred; will teach Religion if Catholic
  6. Possesses energy, is orderly, a problem solver, mobile in classroom setting
  7. Conducts excellent classroom management
  8. Displays a high degree of knowledge in the subject matter assigned and is continuously upgrading competence.
  9. Instruct students daily in all subjects.
  10. Contribute to a unified, sequential schoolwide approach to education by coordinating individual teaching goals and curriculum with those of department and of the school as a whole.
  11. Prepare and submit to Principal measurable learning objectives for various subjects taught and design instruction toward the goal of meeting these objectives.
  12. Prepare regular lesson plans for weekly review and approval of Principal.
  13. Attend all faculty meetings and school events at which faculty attendance is required.
  14. Prepare and submit required student records and reports on a timely basis.
  15. Provide detailed emergency lesson plans for a substitute to follow in case of teacher’s absence.
  16. Gear instruction to student ability while providing assistance for those needing remedial work or enrichment.
  17. Protecting God's Children certification possesses or will earn
  18. Knowledge and use of SMART technology, iPads and online programs
  19. Prepare referrals of special student cases and submit to the proper agency/authority.
  20. Maintain effective communications with parents and students.
  21. Note any significant school problem or potential problem and refer to the proper authority. 
  22. Perform school-related responsibilities, in addition to regular classroom instruction, as agreed upon in contract.
  23. Create differentiated lessons that can reach all learners
  24. Organizes learning activities to provide varied classroom experiences that are congruent with educational goals, objectives and Catholic Faith.
  25. Establishes effective relationships with students and models respect for, and acceptance of, all persons in the Catholic middle school setting.
  26. Establishes effective relationships with parents, community and other staff members.
  27. Maintains professional ethics and responsibilities including participation in the total school program, curriculum development and building committees, and provides a positive role model for students.
  28. Other duties as assigned by the administration.
