(formerly Christian Service Coordinator)

Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church

This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating an active Christian Service ministry program in the parish. The program contains service, education, advocacy and action components. It covers the full range of social ministry as determined through assessment of needs and collaboration with parish leadership. It includes services to those in need of food, housing and clothing, those who are sick or suffering from bereavement, divorce or separation, those with special needs such as the disabled, shut-ins, widows, seniors and prisoners, and coordination of funeral luncheons and blood drives.

Responsibilities:

Enrich and grow the existing Christian Service ministry by implementing initiatives that reflect Catholic values and mission of Our Lady of Refuge.
Oversee weekly operations of Food Pantry, including managing inventory, coordinating volunteers and food distribution schedule.
Provide the parish with the awareness of human needs and the means to respond to those needs, including the method to confront the structural causes of those needs.
Work with parish leadership to integrate social ministry into the life of the parish and to provide ongoing education and formation to parishioners in the areas of Catholic Social Teaching.
Prepare and maintain the annual budget for Christian Service.
Collaborates with the Christian Service Commission to identify needs and encourage broad parish participation in response to those needs.
Coordinate volunteers, training and scheduling for service projects.
Provide spiritual guidance and support to volunteers, fostering a sense of community and purpose.
Organize and facilitate meetings, events, and workshops related to the ministry of Evangelical Charity.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of service programs, collecting feedback and making recommendations for improvement.
Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation, service hours, and program outcomes.
Maintain professional competency by applying for certification as a Christian Service Coordinator (when available) and continuing education and formation through regular attendance at workshops and seminars.

Job Qualifications:

Practicing Catholic
Experience in church ministry, social work, or a related field
Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or ministry work
People oriented individual able to work with others
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
AOD certification in Christian Service Ministry (preferred)
