Organist Sacred Music

Primary Duties:

• Accompany congregational hymns (typically two), Gregorian Mass ordinary and propers, and occasional choral works.
• Prepare and execute seasonally/liturgically appropriate postludes.

Desired Skills:

• Ability to improvise a plus.
• Experience with Novus Ordo Roman Catholic liturgy and accompanying chant helpful.
• Ability and desire to sing with the choir during chant and a cappella works is a definite bonus, but not required.

Time Commitments:

• Sundays from 8:00 to 10:15 AM (Pre-Mass rehearsals plus 9:00 Mass)
• Possible Wednesday evenings (August through May) from 5:30 to 7:15 PM
• Extended availability during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter seasons for additional Masses as schedule requires
• Occasional availability for special Masses throughout the year (advance notice will be provided)

Compensation:

• Musicians are paid on a "per event" basis with rates for organists ranging from $100 to $160 per event.
