  • Nazareth Academy is seeking a full-time Athletic Director for the upcoming 24-25 school year.

    Job Summary:
    To provide for the overall leadership and coordination among the various sports to facilitate programs that provide students with worthwhile learning experiences. He/she assumes the leadership role which would incorporate, but not exclusively, the Mission of Nazareth Academy, accountability, budgeting, evaluation, staffing, and supervision. The Athletic Director will not hold a coaching position.

    Supervisor: Nazareth Academy Principal

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Direct the overall operation of the Athletic Program.
    • Select coaches in partnership with the Principal.
    • Evaluate the Athletic Program and the athletic staff.
    • Participate in budget preparation for the Athletic Program.
    Administrative
    • Serves the Principal, parents, coaches, and students as an interpreter for all rules of the I.H.S.A. and works as a liaison with the I.H.S.A. office.
    • Prepares a preliminary budget for the Athletic Department.
    • Supervises and evaluates all head coaches.
    • Schedules activities jointly with the coaches.
    • Develops job descriptions for head coaches and the athletic trainer.
    • Prepares and coordinates coaches meetings and coordinates beginning and end of season parent meetings with individual coaches.
    • Acts as Tournament Manager for all Conference and I.H.S.A. activities as assigned.
    • Oversees and coordinates along with the head coaches, all athletic contests for grammar schools including summer camps.
    • Attends home varsity athletic contests, and at least 10% of all Nazareth Academy off-campus athletic contests.
    • Works a minimum of seven hours per day Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
    • Ensures that either the Athletic Director or the Assistant Athletic Director will be present on the Nazareth Academy campus while hosting varsity or lower level events.
    • Oversees the rental of athletic facilities to outside groups and shares rental contract information with the Principal and/or President.
    • Performs such other duties as assigned by the Principal from time to time.
    Contacts with support personnel
    • Responsible for the development and implementation of the athletic training code in consultation with the Principal, coaches, and athletic trainer.
    • Makes recommendations to the Principal for staffing of coaching positions.
    • Establishes and monitors procedures for staffing interscholastic contests and for the hiring of personnel to handle related duties.
    • Assigns, supervises, and evaluates the duties of the Assistant Athletic Director, and the Athletic Trainer.
    • Oversees and coordinates the transportation needs for various athletic contests.
    • Recommends maintenance and repairs of athletic facilities.
    • Coordinates use of all campus space with facilities manager.
    Professional
    • Represents Nazareth at the East Suburban Catholic Conference Athletic Directors' meetings.
    Qualifications:
    • Ability to work with a number of Nazareth constituents
    • Working knowledge of the I.H.S.A. by-laws and sanctions
    • Working knowledge of the I.H.S.A. calendar
    • Bachelor's Degree preferably in education
    • Previous experience in Athletic Administration or coaching at the high school or college level
    • Ability to handle multiple administrative tasks and conflicts
    • Ability to use, maintain oral and written communication skills
    Working Conditions:
    • A 40 to 50 hour work week is anticipated to be the norm with additional responsibilities for various special events as needed.
