Position Description

Education Requirements:

Minimum BS in Athletic Training.

Licensed as an athletic trainer in the state of Georgia.

National Certification in athletic training.

Current BLS certificate.

Experience: Two or more years of experience preferred.

Position Description: Provides athletic training services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician in accordance with the state athletic training practice act.

Required Skills: Requires the ability to recognize and evaluate injuries, provide first aid or emergency care, and develop and carry out rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Plan and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury and illness among athletes. Requires good written and verbal communication skills. Must possess organizational skills to maintain accurate records and reports of injuries and treatment programs.

Physical Demands: Clinical work is of moderate demand, physically and mentally. Physical demand requires patient and equipment lifting, working in standing and kneeling positions on the floor, mat and field.

Supervised By: Director of Rehab

Lead Athletic Trainer:

Takes on additional leadership and departmental roles including but not limited to:

• Scheduling with all participating schools.
• Addressing staffing challenges.
• Coordinating and completing all yearly requirements for athletic trainers.
• Assisting with student and clinical orientations.
• Being a liaison for all schools and the Director of Rehab Services.
• Addressing department issues involving staff, coaches, patients, and families.
