Job Title: Assistant Residential Manager
Department:
Reports To: Home Manager/Director of Residential Services
Classification: Non-Exempt, Full time
Position Summary: Assists in the maintenance of Individuals’ quality of life and independence by providing direct care and supervision. Works with staff to ensure safe environment and adherence to regulatory agencies’ policies.
Supervision:
Under the direct supervision of the Residential Manager
Essential Job Functions:
Acts as Residential Manager, when necessary
Assists, as needed, with recommendations regarding Individuals or staff
Assists in the orientation of new team members
Ensures behavior plans are being implemented and data is being collected
Ensures staffing ratios are met
Assists with any staff scheduling issues
Reviews Daily Progress notes
Reviews medication log on a daily basis and makes necessary changes
Ensures Individual Program Plans (IPP) are accurately implemented and documented
Reviews monthly menus and grocery lists and provides shopping assistance
Assists Individuals with meal preparation
Creates list of Direct Care staff responsibilities and monitors the quality of work
Schedules community inclusion activities at least four (4) days prior to activity and secures transportation
Assists with the supervision of the residential staff
Assists staff with Individual’s daily needs, including hygiene, and oversees quality of care
Assistant Residential Manager
Conducts monthly residential meetings and encourages input from Individuals
Reports any allegation of abuse in accordance with Florida Statute 415
Reports any significant event or accident to a Residential Manager immediately and faxes incident report form to the district office within 24 hours
Provides transportation for Individuals; for activities and/or appointments
Assists Resident Manager in completion of Individuals’ attendance records
Communicates clearly and professionally with families, friends, coordinators and other care providers
Assists with monitoring Individual’s money expenditures; reviews daily spending log
Assists in house preparations for annual licensing process
Ensures hurricane supplies are stocked and up to date
Re-enforces staff training
Reports any inappropriate or unusual behavior (with the exception of documented Support Plan Behavior) to the Residential Manager immediately
Ensures vehicles are clean and properly maintained
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Developmental disabilities and how to address them
Self advocacy and self- determination concepts
Federal , state and agency regulatory requirements
Computer applications and use
Ability to:
Perform job tasks allowing for interruptions and challenging deadlines
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Engage active listening skills with all Individuals
Communicate clearly and professionally with families, friends, co-workers and service providers
Education and Experience
Minimum Criteria:
High School diploma or GED
Three (3) or more years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
