The ARC of Martin County, a diverse and progressive Non-Profit organization assisting and supporting adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, seeks a After School Counselor for after school program.

Provides care and supervision to children during community outings while participating in the After school ARC program and in the summer school program. Provides care and monitors children in a variety of settings, such as age appropriate activites. Chooses activities that provide opportunities for growth in communication, behavioral and social skills.

Essential Job Functions:

• • Provides care for and monitors Individuals in a variety of settings
  • Provides age and culturally appropriate activities for all Individuals
  • Supports and emphasizes community -inclusive qualities in various community settings while also participating in the activities
  • Chooses activities that provide opportunities for growth in communication and computer skills as well as appropriate behavioral and social skills
  • Assists Individuals in developing independent living skills
  • Informs immediate supervisor, on a regular basis, regarding the progress of the Individuals
  • Attends skill improvement training opportunities
  • Provides personal care as needed
  • Completes documentation as required for performance measurements stipulated in the
  • Children's Services Council grant
  • Provides transportation using ARC vehicles for scheduled program activities
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned

Education and Experience

Minimum Criteria:

• High School diploma or GED, or enrollment in High School or vocational program

Preferred Criteria:

• One (1) year experience with Individuals with developmental disabilities
