Residential Support Specialist

Arc of Kona is seeking full time passionate, committed individuals to join our team as Residential Support Specialists (RSS). The RSS provides support and assistance to tenants with developmental disabilities living in our Group Home in Captain Cook to live their lives to the fullest and as independently as possible. The RSS teaches, mentors, supports, and assists each tenant in a way that honors and respects their own preferences, choices, and needs. Available schedules: Monday thru Thursday overnight shift or Monday thru Friday day shift. As a RSS, your work will be rewarding and vital to the overall success of our tenants and the organization. Duties include but are not limited to:

- Provide direct support to individuals living in the agency's group home
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the living environment
- Implement behavior management strategies as directed by supervisors
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Support individuals in developing and maintaining social skills
- Collaborate with other team members to create and implement individualized service plans
- Utilize systems and protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of tenants
- Lift and transfer individuals as needed
- Drive residents to appointments, activities, and community outings

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred, but not required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Compassionate and patient demeanor
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors with empathy and professionalism
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
