Associate Director of Residential Services
Join our team of professionals! We are an extremely service-oriented and client-focused non-profit organization supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Greater Prince William area. We are seeking a bright, dependable hard-working and compassionate Associate Directors to oversee our residential group homes. We offer EXCELLENT benefits including zero out of pocket cost for medical insurance for full-time employees!Schedule is Monday-Friday 9:30a-6:30p and on call one weekend each month.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: This position reports directly to the Director of Residential Services and will be responsible for monitoring all aspects of residential facilities and for assuring that the physical, emotional and programmatic needs of the individuals are met. Responsible for providing ongoing supervision and support of multiple Program Managers and in their absence, will delegate or perform their duties as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position will directly supervise multiple Program Managers

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the implementation, management, and evaluation of all activities of programs.
  • Address and respond to serious incidents by following DBHDS requirements and agency policies and procedures to include entry in the CHRIS system.
  • Submits all regulatory reports to licensing and community partners as needed.
  • Reviews Part V’s and quarterly reports for accuracy and appropriateness to meet regulatory requirements and agency operational standards/guidelines prior to submitting to licensing.
  • Reviews and modify WAMs entries to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Communicate program status with families, licensing, and regulatory reports.
  • Responsible for training Program Managers to ensure performance expectations are met.
  • Oversees the completion of onsite training and orientation for all staff.
  • Responsible for building a well running team of direct support professionals to ensure high quality services.
  • Conducts new staff trainings as assigned.
  • Assists Residential Directors to determine program needs and operational requirements within responsible areas.
  • Supports Residential Directors to implement, monitor and evaluate policies and procedures and strategic planning.
  • Assists with filling program vacancies.
  • Effectively addresses all policy, procedure and disciplinary related questions and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates and participates in community integration/activities, sharing the calendars of activities with the families.
  • Coordinates and participates with intakes, discharges, and relocation of individuals.
  • Collaborates with all Directors to ensure best practices and form partnerships as appropriate.
  • Supervises employees to ensure expected outcomes are met; implement strategies to remedy issues.
  • Remains current on policies and contract amendments implementing same in a timely and organized manner.
  • Fills in for Program Manager vacancies.
  • Implements all Risk Assessments for individuals and programs.
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring adequate methods and practices are in place and followed for safeguarding all monies assigned to the Program Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with fiscal policies and procedures.
  • Submits Program Status Reports as requested.
  • Provides direct support to the individuals as required.
  • Provides routine updates on the status of individuals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with at least a three-year clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks and TB test.
  • Proven experience managing staff providing supports to persons with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and management practices.
  • Knowledge of current residential regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
  • Cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the public, demonstrating sensitivity to agency needs, employee goodwill, and the agency’s overall public image.
  • Excellent time management skills, strategic choice thought under pressure, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to advocate for individuals.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies 24/7.
