Arc GLOW Job Description JOB TITLE: LPN STATUS: Non-Exempt PROGRAM: KidStart DEPARTMENT: Summary: Provides health services during program hours to children enrolled in KidStart programs. Provides consultation and training on health issues to KidStart staff in all programs. Actively supports the use of developmentally appropriate practices, as defined by the National Association of the Education of Young Children, while providing services to children. Essential Functions:
Attends to daily health needs of children.
Maintains an inventory of first aid and health supplies.
Oversees the administration of medications, as needed, to children in program.
Keeps medical and immunization records on each child to ensure updated information, maintains health related information on children, completes the annual Department of Health Immunization Survey.
Trains staff in health-related topics.
Provides families with information on health issues.
Assists Family Workers and families in addressing health issues.
Arranges for required health screenings for children.
Works cooperatively with program leadership to ensure that health related requirements and/or concerns are addressed.
Reviews information collected on Child Health Records and coordinates follow-up on identified areas of concern.
Organizes and meets with Health Advisory Committee for the purpose of consultation in planning and evaluation services to Head Start children.
Adhere to all Agency and Program Policies and Procedures
Participates in quality assurance and compliance activities as required.
Other related duties as assigned.

Attends all meetings as required.
Participates in trainings to maintain training hours required by The Office of Children and Family Services
Ability to instruct others and maintain composure during emergency/conflict situations and be able to use sound judgement in decision making.
Actively listen and be able to communicate, verbally and in writing
Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, as well as the ability to work with other required computer systems to complete documentation.
Strong time management skills.
Understanding of typical early childhood development.
Physical Requirements: Must be physically and mentally fit to provide developmentally appropriate care for and supervision of young children. Must have the physical abilities and stamina to sustain active work throughout the day. Work with children requires:
Ability to walk or run quickly
Ability sit on the floor or in child-sized chairs for extended periods of time
Ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to maintain eye contact with children
Ability to walk on rough or uneven ground
Ability to lift children
Ability to work in cold or hot outdoor conditions.
Ability to maintain the safety of the environment and children through visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile senses
Must be able to move quickly and react calmly in response to an emergency
Working Conditions:
Working conditions are typical for a childcare setting
Exposure to bodily fluids, potentially infectious material and communicable diseases
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State
