Arboreal Management is Hiring a PDX Apartment Maintenance Supervisor Near Portland, OR

Great Expectations / Arboreal Management is excited to add a team member who will oversee all maintenance in a portfolio of 200-300 apartments. We are looking for an experienced hire who is excited about being part of a growing team.

What you will do: Working directly with the Regional Manager, you will play an important role in coordinating our activities, interacting with residents, and tracking our project status:

  • Coordinate a daily and weekly maintenance plan with the property management staff
  • Lead the activity of junior maintenance techs, including hiring, training, and management
  • Communicate with tenants about work orders and maintenance issues
  • Work directly on maintenance and construction tasks (50-75% of time)
  • Be independent but also part of a team -- helping out in other property portfolios where needed
  • Handle vendor communications and scheduling
  • Own the long term health of your buildings, including a preventative maintenance plan

We are a fast growing company and we see a clear path for this role into leadership for our business.

What you should bring: We are looking for an individual with some experience in a relevant field and a strong professional orientation. Most of all, we seek someone who is flexible, detail oriented, and who loves working in a team. Specific qualifications include:

  • 5 years’ experience working in multifamily maintenance or construction
  • Experience in all aspects of maintenance, including unit turns, remodels, systems repairs, etc
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do the work as well as managing and training others
  • Experience in key trades such as plumbing, HVAC and electrical a plus
  • Comfort working in small, effective teams
  • Flexibility regarding day-to-day required actions
  • Project management and business task experience
  • Spanish language ability a plus.

Who we are: Great Expectations is a small and growing Real Estate investment firm focused on providing innovative, affordable, and profitable housing for Pacific Northwest residents. We own and operate around 600 rental apartments and houses and are developing about 500 more. We are based in Seattle but have projects as far as Portland and Spokane. We are strong advocates for housing affordability.

As a small firm, we have a particularly strong commitment to our values and expect our team members to share them. We value:

  • Inclusion and Diversity within our company, in how we select partners, and how we design for customers. We actively seek and learn from different perspectives
  • Teamwork: We communicate consistently, learn from one another, and always operate as a team when faced with a challenge. We only win as a team
  • Data-based decision making: We consider the facts and identify patterns to make good decisions and evaluate mistakes. There is always a “best” answer
  • Question conventional wisdom: If something doesn't make sense or data suggests otherwise, we dig in and decide how to act. We love it when we see something others don’t
  • Respect for our residents: The people who live in our buildings are our business partners. We listen to them, respect them, and aim to build them the homes they want at the price they can afford.

This is an ideal job for someone who has a background in multifamily maintenance and construction, excellent organizational skills, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. We are excited to offer a supportive professional environment and exposure to and participation in the Real Estate investment and development process in both a growing firm and a growing region.
