Director of Sales - Industrial Segment

Salary to 190k plus bonus, and outstanding benefits

Our client is a leading international manufacture of engineering plastics and fine chemicals. This position will be based in Troy, Michigan and is available due to the current Director of Sales will be retiring soon. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven resin sales performer selling in the industrial market segment. This is an excellent company that rewards performance and offers strong career growth.

SUMMARY & OBJECTIVE

This Director of Sales position is responsible for: sales of Starex and Infino products into the new application / industrial segment, large account development and commercialization, and senior/executive level customer relationship development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage key assigned accounts.
  • Develop and increase sales revenue and profit to meet assigned targets.
  • Initiate and maintain high level relationships with end-users and/or targeted customers with technical knowledge, account strategies, planning and administrative responsibilities to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Develop new customers, define potential sales targets, and close new opportunities.
  • Act as a resource to customers in application development opportunities and proposals.
  • Mentor and coach other sales team members to increase overall team effectiveness.
  • Keep informed of new products, services, market trends, and other general information of interest to customers.
  • Check on competitive activity and develop new methods of attaining targeted customers.
  • Troubleshoot problems regarding products provided (with Technical Team)
  • Answer questions from customers and handle complaints.
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and support company mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has supervisory responsibility for the New Application Development Team including direct responsibility for sales personnel and indirect management of assigned inside product coordinators.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Chemical Engineering, Management, or equivalent number of years’ experience
  • Must have 5 years of experience in plastic resin sales in the industrial or automotive market space
  • Demonstrated sales performance and profitable growth in the industrial or automotive market space
  • 3 years direct people management experience is a plus
  • Hold valid driver’s license for business trips
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Professional sales training or certification a plus
