Description

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Department Leadership, the Laboratory Technician will perform testing and associated activities in the laboratory section where assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling, processing, and maintaining records of patient test results.

· Performs routine and complex laboratory testing

· Serve as a trainer, as needed.

· Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.

· Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.

· Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specification.

· Performs equipment and assay verifications, validation and equivalencies according to the approved plans.

· Participates in regulatory agency inspection readiness and onsite inspections.

· Communicates effectively and timely as needed to co-workers, management, medical directors, and other divisions.

Qualifications


Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent attention to detail

· Ability to work in a team environment

· Willingness to maintain confidential information

· Will be assessed for color perception

Education:

· Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or

· Associate’s degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Employee is regularly required to talk or hear

· Employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms

· Employee is occasionally required to lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds.

TRAVEL AND HOURS

· This position is full-time

· No travel is required with this position
