Arbor Care Solutions, an outpatient behavioral health agency, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support our clinical team in providing high-quality medical care and support to our patients. The CMA will assist healthcare providers in delivering psychiatric and behavioral health services to clients, maintain patient records, and ensure efficient clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist healthcare providers in administering medical treatments and procedures following established protocols.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms, ensuring they are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Take patient medical history, vital signs, and assist in conducting basic medical assessments as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Administer medications and injections under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, blood draws, and point-of-care testing, and prepare specimens for testing at external labs.
  • Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and medication administration accurately in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Assist in coordinating patient referrals to specialty providers, diagnostic services, and community resources as needed.
  • Provide patient education on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and general wellness.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff, including psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and case managers, to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and agency policies.
  • Conduct pre-authorization and medication prior authorization processes as required by insurance providers and ensure timely approval for prescribed medications.
  • Assist in coordinating care transitions for patients, including scheduling follow-up appointments, arranging transportation, and connecting clients with community support services.
  • Support the clinic team in implementing evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education programs to stay updated on best practices in behavioral health care.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, and external agencies to facilitate seamless communication and patient care coordination.
  • Perform basic administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying patient demographics, to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Collaborate with the pharmacy team to manage medication refills, track adherence, and address any medication-related concerns raised by patients.
  • Assist in maintaining infection control and compliance with safety guidelines in the clinic, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials and adherence to standard precautions.
  • Engage in outreach activities and community events to promote mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage access to behavioral health services.
  • Uphold professional ethics and standards of practice in accordance with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and state regulations governing medical assistants.
