The Position:

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation, in-software messaging text, and technical support documentation that effectively communicates complex information to various audiences. This position requires close collaboration with subject matter experts, developers, technical support, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy and quality of the content.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular self-assessments using Arbinger’s 3A tool to gauge and enhance individual performance impact.
  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for the greatest reader comprehension.
  • Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
  • Review and edit existing documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain a range of technical documentation, including user manuals, product guides, API documentation, on-screen error messages, customer support guides, product briefs, and version release notes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product specifications and technical details.
  • Translate technical information into easily understandable and user-friendly documentation with a focus on simplicity.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to ensure the documentation reflects the latest information.
  • Perform industry-relevant research to determine the most industry-appropriate terms to use in product messaging.
  • Collaborate with the software development team during the design phases of product development to write all customer-facing messaging.
  • Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand and simple language for a non-technical audience.
  • Will be a backup to writers on the marketing and product teams for other projects when needed.

Required Capabilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to write both long-form technical documentation and short on-screen messages in a clear, accurate, and concise manner.
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable by non-technical readers.
  • Proficiency in using documentation tools and software.
  • Proven organizational skills, multitasking skills, and extreme attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with multiple departments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong ability to review, correct, and edit written work to ensure grammatical accuracy, industry relevance, and brand consistency.
  • Ability to manage and maintain a library of documentation for multiple products and teams.
  • Ability to track and maintain a process of communication for any product-related changes across multiple internal teams.

Preferred Capabilities:

  • Experience with Agile Development Methodology.
  • Proficiency in using Confluence for product documentation.
  • Knowledge of Jira.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either English, with a technical background, or an Information Technology degree with a strong English background or equivalent experience required.
  • 2 years of proven experience in writing technical documentation for software-related products.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: From $80,000 per year
