Summary
Performs ultrasonic images of the heart and great vessels to investigate a wide variety of acquired and congenital heart disease.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
New graduate with at least 800 hours of clinical cardiac scan time or have graduated from an accredited program or at least one year of on-the-job training. RDCS or RCS certification preferred or registry eligible. An associate science degree is encouraged. BCLS certified. Must attempt registry certification within one year and gain certification within two years of the hire date. Verbal ability required to understand test procedures and to explain them to patients. Form perception required to compare recorded patterns to characteristics of normal patterns. A preference for scientific and technical activities required to understand and operate electronic test equipment. Must be able to deal confidently on a one-to-one basis with all types and ages of people.Manual dexterity required to perform diagnostic tests. Ability to use both hands independently. Excellent visual and auditory acuity. Patient lifting and transport. Exposure to minimal amount of radiation. Potential for eyestrain due to monitoring CRT. Works inside. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parental contact with blood or potentially infectious material. Must be able to lift, turn, and reposition patients for the study ordered. Must be able to push large rolling ultrasound equipment that weighs in excess of 300 pounds across long distances inside of the hospital. Must be able to work in confined spaces for correct positioning of patients in small rooms. May stand for long periods during procedures. Must push occupied stretchers and beds.Required Licenses and Certifications
