Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Line Supervisor leads the direct and indirect workforce to achieve daily production and operational objectives. The Production Line Supervisor will also be responsible for driving change within the workforce to sustain the gains achieved from continuous improvement initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Production Management: Ensure Standard Work is followed and Plan to Actual boards are updated hourly. Take corrective action as needed to meet Takt time.
  • Workforce Planning: Plan and manage work cells and direct labor on a daily basis based on customer demand.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Apply and maintain regulations and programs related to health and safety, personnel management, training, quality assurance, and equipment maintenance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Make recommendations to increase production and improve working methods; participate in the continuous improvement process.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with other departments to develop new products and transition them into production.
  • Material Management: Ensure the timely availability of raw materials and make recommendations as necessary utilizing the Kanban process.
  • Committee Participation: Participate in committees and projects to support organizational goals.

Professional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate degree or similar training preferred.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of manufacturing supervision of 10 employees.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Advanced leadership skills with the ability to motivate employees and attract followers.
  • Strong safety acumen and the ability to lead a crew to injury-free performance.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to satisfy numerous constituents.

Key Interfaces:

  • Internal Stakeholders: Collaborate with Customer Service, Quality Assurance, and Outside Suppliers.

Supervision:

  • Direct/indirect supervision of 15 to 35 employees.

Impact on Business:

  • Direct impact on manufacturing and delivering quality products to customers on-time and at budgeted costs.

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibit behaviors that reflect the ability to get along with others, function as a team player, accept constructive criticism from supervisors, and follow work and safety rules.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting.
  • Frequent bending and walking, with rare sitting.
  • Willingness to work 10 hours per day as needed.
  • Attention to detail and safety-mindedness are required.
