Job Summary
There's an opening in the Eastern Division of Aquarion Water Company of Connecticut for a Meter Reader. Candidates should possess and sustain a valid State of Connecticut motor vehicle license and a high school diploma.
Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as above-average problem-solving abilities, are required. Intermediate computer skills are preferred, and experience with water metering equipment, service work, and billing is desirable.
Candidates must be capable of driving, standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods, walking long distances, lifting up to 100 pounds, and working in confined spaces.
Principal Responsibilities
Perform all aspects of general meter reading including reading all types of meters, recording readings and account information on documents and hand-held computers, resolving out-of-bounds readings, updating service locations and account sequences, investigating lost accounts, and responding to customer inquiries.
Perform meter reading duties outside of normal working hours as required.
Hydrant maintenance including pressure testing and painting
Drive company vehicles in a safe manner and observe all safety rules and regulations.
Communicate with customers in person and demonstrate excellent customer relation skills.
Perform meter reading duties in all types of weather conditions.
Perform other duties as required.
Education / Certifications
Candidates should possess and sustain a valid State of Connecticut motor vehicle license and a high school diploma.
Salary
Job is classified as a Non-Union Hourly position with a starting training wage of $27.07 per hour.
Successful applicants will move through Steps 1 through 8 of the range at 6-month intervals with satisfactory performance to the maximum salary.
