What are we looking for in the Biologic Coordinator?

The Biologics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the prescription and authorization for specialty medications including ordering medication, prior authorizations, patient education, and other duties necessary to manage the patients who are prescribed them.

Location: Daphne, AL

Biologic Coordinator Primary Duties:

• Identifying patients within the organization who have been prescribed a biologic medication.
• Initiating prior authorizations as needed.
• Supplying/faxing appropriate medical records/notes as requested by insurance carriers.
• Communicating with pharmacies, representatives, and insurance carriers as necessary.
• Timely response to incoming requests to ensure patients' prescriptions are filled without delay
• Complete and thorough documentation and communications in patient chart/EHR
• Appropriate review and documentation of MIPS as it pertains to Biologics.
• Provide patient education and respond to patient concerns promptly; contact patients with updated status or delays timely.

Biologic Coordinator Skills and Qualities:

• EMR/EHR proficiency - in tasking and scheduling functions.
• Knowledge of CPT codes and Prior Authorization processes.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, understand provider instructions and know when to seek information or clarification.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and fellow team members alike.

Required Experience and Education:

• Prior experience (2 years) as a Medical Assistant in a physician practice; Dermatology and/or Biologics experience preferred.
