Job Summary :

The Process Technician is primarily responsible for the processing efficiency and the quality of product produced at each work station.

The Process Technician works closely with the Production Coordinator, Lead operator, and Quality personnel to ensure the various production operations, production equipment and assigned personnel function in a safe, efficient and prescribed manor.

This position supports manufacturing contracts comprised of high quality and strict delivery requirements therefore, consistent performance and a dependable daily attendance record will be required.

Essential functions :

  • The Process Technician influences several subordinate positions and is expected to execute efficient molding skills and demonstrate competent technical expertise, so a positive bearing, professional image and team skills are essential for success and continuance of the assignment.
  • Assignments are normally received from the Production Supervision on planning, priority and technical matters. The Process Technician will interface with other supervisors representing quality, assembly, and inventory control and product movement interests.
  • The Process Technician must possess basic skills in hydraulics, electrical and mechanical repair and be able to perform minor repairs, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities on primary and auxiliary production equipment, so production operations can be maintained at peak efficiency levels.
  • Upon arrival, reviews the "Production Plan" and consults with Production supervision and / or previous shift supervision to gain job specific knowledge necessary to meet the planned daily objectives.
  • The Process Technician is expected to cooperate fully and assist lead operators, machine operators and quality personnel, define the causes of problems and quickly.
  • Interfaces with all set-up and material handling personnel to ensure safe and efficient methods are utilized during tooling changeover activities.
  • Product quality begins at the point of manufacture, so the Process Technician must be able to comprehend part drawings, quality directives, mold set-up sheets, water & electrical schematics and be able to use common manual measuring instruments.
  • Ensures job start-up processing valves, raw materials and mold cooling / heating parameters are according to "job packet" documented specifications before each job start-up, so optimum product quality levels are reached quickly to minimize machine down-time and loss of materials.
  • Monitors production efficiencies (cycle times, scrap, rejects, piece counts, etc.) And reports all sub-standard performance to the production supervisor and / or production manager, along with any improvement corrective action recommendations.
  • Attends both the beginning and ending "shift change meetings" with the previous and relieving shifts supervision to ensure a complete transfer of objectives has occurred, so production continues uninterrupted.
  • Supports company objectives, procedures and policies.

Qualifications :

Five (5) or more years' experience in a custom injection molding environment, performing mold set-ups, technical molding, material handling and mechanical trouble shooting tasks.

Experience with tooling, hydraulics, industrial electronics, computers, SPC, and QA functions is highly desirable.
