Job Overview:

APTIM's Energy Solutions seeks a Business Analyst for our Focus on Energy Team. This position is based in Wisconsin and responsible for creating and managing budgets, and tracking, reporting, and supporting various financial processes for energy efficiency programming for Focus on Energy. Focus on Energy is one of the longest standing energy efficiency and clean energy programs in the country. This award-winning program serves 107 utility territories across the Wisconsin market and supports more than 50,000 energy efficiency projects annually. Additionally, Focus on Energy was recently awarded the implementation work for the federally funded Home Energy Rebate (HER) programs.

APTIM's role as the Program Administrator is to develop energy-savings programs vital to residential and business customers throughout the state. This program has historically and primarily been funded by utility clients with unique needs and service territories while providing an equal opportunity for participation across the program portfolio. Coordination with internal functional teams, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, and external stakeholders will be paramount to continue to optimize data and financial management plans for core Focus on Energy programming, but to devise robust reporting, tracking, and invoicing processes related to the HER programs, targeted for launch in 2024.

Our consultants proactively collaborate with clients to define and implement strategies and campaigns around key business drivers, with the primary focus of finding and delivering high-impact projects exceeding expectations and meeting the unique needs for our commercial and retail clients.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior APTIM team members to design key data tracking, reporting, and invoicing processes necessary to successfully deliver, service, and document HER program delivery in particular. Activities are likely to include set up and ongoing maintenance of financial tracking and reporting tools, building and/or utilizing data queries to relay program data to key stakeholders, reviewing / correcting regular invoices, working with project and financial controls team members to support ad hoc data and program tracking responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with functional team leaders to prepare, track, and maintain revenue, expense, and budget dashboards.
  • Assist with the procurement, account setup, and invoice review processes of vendors and subcontractors.
  • Compile and analyze large datasets to assist with strategic decision-making scenarios and project planning efforts.
  • Assist with the general coordination and preparation of financial documents, presentations, and general client submittals.
  • Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures by examining records, reports, operating practices, and documentation to support annual compliance audit.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience in finance, accounting, data storytelling, or other relevant field.
  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to work independently on straightforward tasks using established procedures.
  • Ability to apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete assigned work.
  • Ability to work with others as part of a team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage time, work independently and prioritize projects within established deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment within the team and the broader organization.
  • Ability to think critically to solve issues and provide resolutions.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, SharePoint, and Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, IF statements, VLOOKUP functions, etc.)
  • Excellent planning skills with proven experience in project management, data tracking, and comfort with financial processes.
  • Knowledge of basic finance concepts and GAAP accounting principles.
  • PMP, or similar certification or the desire to obtain
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders
  • 1 years' experience in the energy efficiency industry preferred
