About the role

The Senior Infrastructure Cloud Engineer is primarily responsible for being a technical lead with hands-on while possessing a high standard of excellence, solid written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus, and capable of technical deep dives into services and technologies.

Responsibilities will include governance, support, and the integration and growth of our Cloud infrastructure. Additional responsibilities to include architecting, planning, specifying, and building new solutions.

This role includes implementing, planning, risk management, collaboration with technical and engineering teams to further improve our systems stability and minimize solution downtime impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop reusable components and operational strategies to support scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, etc.
• Build solutions to problems that interrupt availability, performance, and stability in our systems, services, and products at scale
• Provide detailed guidance to peers and development teams in tool training and troubleshooting
• Planning and implementing integrations and additions across many systems and environments
• Driving automation, design development and other solutions in a comprehensive manner to boost operational efficiency
• Collaborating between development and IT teams to scale cloud solutions, create workflow processes and ensure quality of releases
• Troubleshooting critical site events and documenting root cause analysis
• Coordinating between QA personnel, software and application developers, project managers and stakeholders
• Providing recommendations on approaches to troubleshooting and resolution of site and production issues
• Learning about and gathering new technologies and related tools to introduce to the company to grow the agile development environment

Qualification requirements

• Information Technology based degree level qualification
• 7 years progressive experience of IT system Administration/security/deployments.
• At least 2 years IBM AS400 i-series & Linux engineering experience. Covering OS Installations, upgrades, systems administration, and support.
• Experience of Private/Public Cloud environments / Virtualization / Networking
• Familiarity with Dell blades, Fortinet networks and IBM & Pure storage.
• Redhat/Aix/Centos upgrades/migrations/administration/support
• Experience in open-source technologies and have a broad knowledge of technologies used in the DevOps community
• Experience with scripting languages in support of I-series and Linux
• Prior experience working with and supporting software development teams
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Positive attitude and ability to effectively work with others

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of programming languages ranging from but not limited to Python, .NET, Java and JavaScript
• Prior experience working with and supporting software development teams
