Strategic Risk Solutions Inc. (SRS), the world’s largest independent insurance company manager, is growing and looking for a business development professional to join our MSL Captive Solutions (MSLCS) division.
As our Managing Director, Business Development, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with select program managers, brokers, carriers and TPAs for the underwriting of their private labeled captive programs. This is a technical sales role requiring an understanding of captive program structures and operations with the ability to easily explain these structures to our partners. The successful candidate will also lead the firm’s marketing initiatives to enhance the firm’s position as a specialist captive underwriter.
This remote U.S. based role is tailored for a business development executive or consultant with expertise in medical stop loss captives and the entrepreneurial drive to build a market leader in this growing sector of the health insurance industry.
Responsibilities and Duties: 
  • Manage relationships with program managers, brokers and TPAs on private labeled group captive programs; develop new relationships positioning MSLCS as a preferred underwriter on existing and new captive programs.
  • Work with partners and our underwriting team to meet expectations on service standards and the underwriting of individual cases to promote growth while maintaining the integrity of the captive program.
  • Manage and develop relationships with brokers and other production sources for single parent captive programs. Build a strategy to develop MSLCS’s single parent captive book of business.
  • Take a thought leadership role in the industry representing MSLCS through articles, speaking engagements and other marketing initiatives.
  • Work with Corporate Marketing in the development of marketing collateral, messaging, website content and overall marketing strategy.
  • Monitor trends in the use of captives for health insurance and the larger self-funded market. Incorporate changes into sales strategy.
  • Maintain knowledge of cost containment initiatives and key differentiators for captive programs, specifically understanding our client programs’ unique differentiators and their positioning in the market.
  • Monitor trends in the healthcare industry and their impact on stop loss programs. Develop MSLCS’s position relative to these trends.
  • Deliver effectively in a variety of presentation settings; formal, one-on-one, small and large groups, with peers, and leaders; both inside and outside the organization
  • Effectively communicate benefits captive participation and the value proposition of MSLCS as a specialist underwriter.
  • Effectively address any objections or concerns and construct mutually beneficial solutions
Attributes and Skills: 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related degree; MBA a plus but not required.
  • 5 years’ experience of medical stop loss captive experience in a business development role.
  • An entrepreneurial drive and desire to build a market leading business as their own.
  • Good knowledge of health insurance, medical stop loss, level-funding and/or self-funding benefits sales experience.
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to develop and execute a sales strategy.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with all areas related to the captive and sales functions, including underwriting, program management, carrier management as well as producers and employers.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including experience writing articles and with industry speaking engagements.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% domestically as needed.
