Job Overview

Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Manager, Software Engineering. In this new role, you will work with Agile Scrum teams to develop our industry-leading Applied Epic software product using React, Golang, TypeScript, .NET, and SQL Server. In this People Leadership role, you will manage software engineers and provide technical expertise to ensure velocity and quality.

• Lead a team of software engineers to deliver high-quality results with consistency
• Be accountable for the team’s commitments and delivery
• Provide professional and technical leadership with impactful guidance, coaching, and feedback
• Empower the team with clear goals and a data-informed approach to ensure excellence
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement with the team
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, and other Engineering Leaders to define work
• Monitor active work to reduce scope change, escalate blockers, and drive collaboration
• Collaborate with other internal teams to achieve our roadmap and quality goals

What You’ll Need to Succeed 

 We’re looking for someone who: 

• Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office

Your experience should include: 

• 8 years of experience creating enterprise software
• 3 years managing software engineering teams
• Experience with web application development including React
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodology and testing practices
• Expertise in software development and test automation to ensure quality
• Ability to recruit, develop, and retain software development teams
• Proven technical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and research abilities
• Experience with Microsoft development tools
• Experience with Scrum practices and tools like Jira and Confluence
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or CIS, or equivalent work experience
