Position DescriptionJoin our team at Applied Medical, a leading provider of innovative medical devices, as a Mechanic. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and pallet jacks to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and associated lifting equipment used in our manufacturing and distribution facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on powered industrial equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnosing Issues: Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, including engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Parts and Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Following Maintenance Schedules: Respond promptly to powered industrial equipment breakdowns and emergencies to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of operations.
  • Documenting Maintenance Activities: Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and facility personnel to prioritize tasks and coordinate maintenance schedules.
Within your first 30 days:
  • Review powered industrial equipment models, maintenance schedules, and common issues.
  • Spend time shadowing experienced mechanics to understand day-to-day operations.
  • Familiarize yourself with the company's policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Begin performing routine maintenance tasks under supervision to gain hands-on experience.
  • Attend team meetings and get to know relevant team members and supervisors.
Within 60 days:
  • Complete comprehensive training on powered industrial equipment models and maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarize yourself with the layout of our facility and the locations of powered industrial equipment.
  • Conduct initial inspections and assessments of powered industrial equipment fleet to identify any immediate maintenance needs.
  • Identify areas for skill improvement and seek additional training if necessary.
  • Establish effective communication channels with relevant team members and supervisors.
Within 90 days to 1 year:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new powered industrial equipment models, and maintenance technologies.
  • Get involved in special projects related to powered industrial equipment maintenance or warehouse optimization.
  • Take on leadership responsibilities within the maintenance team.
  • Schedule a performance review meeting to discuss achievements and areas for further development.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
  • Proficiency in maintenance, safety, repairs, and servicing of powered industrial and lifting equipment.
  • Experience in mechanical repairs and part replacement for powered industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with a range of makes and models of powered industrial equipment.
  • Skill in using diagnostic tools for fault identification and repair.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to working in a safe and efficient manner.
Preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Ability to adapt to different powered industrial equipment models and evolving technologies in the industry.
